Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept health insurance?

Yes, currently all providers are in network with many major health insurance plans. We will bill your insurance for your sessions. Copays and deductible payments are required when services are rendered. We accept the following insurance plans: Aetna/Meritain, Cigna/Evernorth, GEHA, Optum/UnitedHealthcare, Oscar, VA, TriWest, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Medicare, Medicaid Plans - MO HealthNet, Home State Health, Show Me Healthy Kids (SMHK), UnitedHealthcare Community Plan, and others.

How much do therapy sessions cost?

If you are using health insurance your session cost is determined by your insurance company and your mental health benefits. We will submit your insurance claim on your behalf and communicate the response from your insurance company, with patient invoicing. If you need benefit details before your first session, please call your insurance company and inquire about your benefits for outpatient mental health services.

Self pay rates depend on the session time and treatment, but overall range from $100-$175.

We also offer reduced-rate, affordable therapy with graduate student intern therapists. Our graduate interns offer sessions starting at $60/session for individuals, couples and families. More reduced rates offered on a case by case basis.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions is determined by the client’s symptoms and goals. Most clients benefit from at least 12 sessions.

What is the cancellation policy?

Please give 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment. There is a $100 fee for late cancellations. If the client no-shows to an appointment, the full session fee will be charged.

What should I expect from my first therapy session?

You will be asked to sign and complete paperwork online. Your therapist will review your paperwork to determine if your goals are a good fit for their training. During your first session your therapist will ask you questions about your history as well as your current symptoms and future goals. You will then collaboratively discuss treatment planning for future sessions.

For online telehealth therapy what state can I be located in during a session?

The provider must be licensed in the state the client is physically located during the session. Each provider is licensed in one or more of the following states - Missouri + Kansas. When establishing care please indicate which state preferences you have, otherwise your contact information will be used to determine counselor fit.

What is Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)? How do I know if I need IOP?

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) provide a higher level of care than weekly outpatient therapy. It’s designed for times when individual therapy alone doesn’t feel like enough support, or when your symptoms are starting to take over your daily life.

Think of IOP like working with a personal trainer for a short, focused period: you get extra guidance, structure, and skills practice to strengthen your foundation. Once you’ve built those tools, you can return to outpatient therapy with more confidence and stability.
